Section 34-1A-1 Definitions. For the purpose of this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: (1) ADMINISTRATIVE EMPLOYEE. A person who engages in clerical duties for a licensed company, whose work is restricted to office duties, and who has access to sensitive client information including, but not limited to, Social Security numbers, customer privacy codes, customer passwords, and similar information. (2) ALARM MONITORING COMPANY. Any person, company, corporation, partnership, or business, or a representative or agency thereof, authorized to provide alarm monitoring services for alarm systems or other similar electronic security systems whether the systems are maintained on commercial business property, public property, or individual residential property. Section 11-65-1 Legislative declarations and findings. The Legislature hereby finds and declares as follows: (1) As the basis for enacting Act No. 84-131, the Legislature found and determined that the conduct within Class 1 municipalities in the state of horse racing events and pari-mutuel wagering thereon will generate additional revenues for governmental and charitable purposes, provide additional jobs for the residents of the state and benefit the businesses related to tourism and recreation within any such municipality and throughout the surrounding areas of the state; it is desirable to permit the qualified voters of any Class 1 municipality to determine through referendum whether horse racing and pari-mutuel wagering thereon will be permitted in such municipality; and for each Class 1 municipality in which horse racing is approved by the voters thereof, it is necessary and desirable to provide for the establishment of a racing commission to regulate horse racing and pari-mutuel...

Section 39-2-12 Partial and final payments of contractors by awarding authorities. (a) As used in this section the following words shall have the meanings ascribed to them as follows: (1) CONTRACTOR. Any natural person, partnership, company, firm, corporation, association, limited liability company, cooperative, or other legal entity licensed by the Alabama State Licensing Board for General Contractors. Section 25-4-78 Disqualifications for benefits. An individual shall be disqualified for total or partial unemployment for any of the following: (1) LABOR DISPUTE IN PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT. For any week in which an individual's total or partial unemployment is directly due to a labor dispute still in active progress in the establishment in which he or she is or was last employed.
