Section 27-17A-2 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings: (1) ALTERNATIVE CONTAINER. A nonmetal receptacle or enclosure, without ornamentation or a fixed interior lining, which is designed for the encasement of human remains and which is made of cardboard, pressed-wood, composition materials (with or without an outside covering), or pouches of canvas or other materials. (2) ARRANGEMENT CONFERENCE. The meeting occurring either at need or preneed between the seller and the purchaser during which funeral or cemetery merchandise and services are discussed. Section 25-4-51 Rates of contributions, etc., by employers. (a) Contributions. Except as hereinafter provided and subject to the provisions of Section 25-4-54, every employer shall pay contributions, or payments in lieu of contributions, equal to the percentages of wages payable or paid as hereinafter set out, with respect to employment by him. Section 39-2-12 Partial and final payments of contractors by awarding authorities. (a) As used in this section the following words shall have the meanings ascribed to them as follows: (1) CONTRACTOR. Any natural person, partnership, company, firm, corporation, association, limited liability company, cooperative, or other legal entity licensed by the Alabama State Licensing Board for General Contractors. Section 40-18-293 Alabama income and financial institution excise tax credit. (a) An Alabama income and financial institution excise tax credit is hereby established for small businesses that create new jobs paying more than ten dollars ($10) per hour. The credit shall equal one thousand dollars ($1,000) and shall be available in the tax year during which the employee has completed 12 months of consecutive employment. Section 40-16-11 Transition rules for Financial Institution Excise Tax Reform Act of 2019. This section provides for transition rules for the implementation of the Financial Institution Excise Tax Reform Act of 2019. (1) Act 2019-284 imposes for the first time a system of prepaid estimated tax payments patterned after the federal system and transitions the Financial Institution Excise Tax from the current post-payment system. To account for this transition, the Department of Revenue shall waive both penalties and interest attributable to underpayments of estimated tax payments occurring within the first two applicable tax years and not attributable to an intentional disregard of the law. Section 40-18-6.1 Gain or loss - Special rules for capital gains invested in opportunity zones. (a) The provisions in 26 U.S.C. § 1400Z-2 shall be applicable to an investment in an approved opportunity fund in calculating both of the following: (1) The income tax levied by this chapter, or the estimated income tax payment. (2) The financial institution excise tax found in Chapter 16.
