Rd 1 30-APR-15 SYNOPSIS: Under current law, the Department of Revenue collects a fee for issuing
and processing certain motor vehicle titles. This bill will increase the fee for issuing and
processing such titles. A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT Relating to motor vehicle titles; to
increase the fee for issuing and processing certain motor vehicle titles. BE IT ENACTED BY
THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:Section 1. Section 32-8-6, Code of Alabama 1975, is hereby amended
to read as follows: ยง32-8-6. "(a) There shall be paid to the department for issuing
and processing documents required by this chapter a fee of fifteen dollars ($15) twenty-five
dollars ($25) for each of the following transactions: "(1) Each application for certificate
of title; "(2) Each application for replacement or corrected certificate of title; "(3)

collect debt in Alabama. This bill would require debt buyers and other debt collectors to
possess certain basic information about the debt before initiating collection efforts, including
proof of indebtedness by the consumer, date of the debt, identity of the original creditor,
and itemization of all fees, charges, and payments. This bill would prohibit the collection
of a consumer debt by any party not in possession of at least a copy of the original contract,
or other documentation evidencing the consumer's liability. This bill would require a creditor
and each subsequent holder of the debt to retain and pass on to the next holder all communications
from the consumer concerning the debt and information about all known disputes and defenses.

to maintain certain records pertaining to sales at salvage pools or salvage disposal sales.
This bill would require notice to a purchaser that a motor vehicle for which a salvage or
junk certificate has been issued by this state or other state may not be driven or operated
on the highways or other public places of this state, except under certain conditions relating
to restoration of the vehicle. This bill would also require the licensee to deposit a bond
