BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:Section 1. Act 97-652, 1997 Regular Session, now appearing as Section 45-10-111.01 of the Code of Alabama 1975, is amended to read as follows: §45-10-111.01. "(a) This section shall apply only to Cherokee County. "(b) All returning officers, as appointed by the local appointing board, the judge of probate, sheriff, and circuit clerk, shall receive an additional compensation of ten dollars ($10) and shall receive twenty-five cents ($.25) the same per mile the same mileage allowance for travel as the state mileage allowance provided for in Section 36-7-22, from the location of the polling place to the courthouse and return.
