as the official state vegetable of Alabama. A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To designate the
sweet potato as the official state vegetable of Alabama. BE IT ENACTED BY THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: Section 1. The Legislature hereby finds and declares the following:
(1) With the passing of the Bicentennial Celebration of Alabama, it has become known that
Alabama lacks an official state vegetable. (2) In 2015, the Alabama Farmers Federation reported
that the great State of Alabama ranks sixth among the nation in the production of sweet
potatoes; the crop brings an estimated $9 million annually to the state, making it one of
Alabama's main crops. (3) The sandy loam soil of the state allows sweet potatoes to
grow quickly and freely, enabling Alabama to produce some of the largest and tastiest sweet
potatoes in the...

SYNOPSIS: Under existing law, wineries are not permitted to ship or distribute wine directly
to retailers or residents in the state. Wine manufacturers and importers are required to sell
wine through a licensed wholesaler. This bill would require each supplier of wine to designate
sales territories for each of its brands and enter into an exclusive franchise agreement with
a wholesaler for each sales territory. This bill would set conditions and requirements for
franchise agreements between suppliers and wholesale distributors of wine, including provisions
for the modification, termination, cancellation, nonrenewal, or discontinuance of an agreement.
This bill would authorize certain wineries to directly ship wine to individuals in the state.
This bill would provide further duties of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. This bill
would delete obsolete language from the Code of Alabama...

and county commissions may designate areas along the county roads and highways of the state
as construction zones and may set reduced speed construction zone speed limits. Existing law
also provides that a person who commits a violation of a construction zone speed limit shall
be assessed a fine of double the amount prescribed by law outside of a construction zone.
This bill would further provide for the violation to include all moving violations committed
within a construction zone while workers are present and while there are work zone traffic
control devices or warning signs present to notify motorists of construction and maintenance
workers in the area. This bill would provide that the penalty for a construction zone violation
is the greater of $250 or double the amount prescribed by law...
