Section 23-1-150 Purpose and construction of article. It is the intention of the Legislature by the passage of this article to authorize the incorporation of the Director of Finance, the Director of Transportation, the Attorney General, the State Treasurer and the Executive Secretary to the Governor of Alabama for the purpose of constructing public roads and bridges, together with work incidental and related thereto, through a corporation to be composed of said officials whose incorporation is hereby authorized, to vest such corporation with all powers, authorities, rights, privileges and titles that may be necessary to enable it to accomplish such purpose and to appropriate and pledge funds for the use of such corporation. Section 40-17-371 Cost of collection; distribution of tax proceeds. (a) The Alabama Department of Revenue shall retain one-quarter of one percent (0.25%) of the tax proceeds, less any refunds, from this additional excise tax on gasoline and diesel fuel for its cost of collection. The department may adopt rules and such forms as may be necessary for the administration of the excise tax provided for in this article.
