Section 8-32-2 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings: (1) ADMINISTRATOR. The person designated by a provider to be responsible for the administration of service contracts or the service contracts plan or to make the filings required by this chapter. (2) COMMISSIONER. The Commissioner of Insurance of this state. (3) CONSUMER. A natural person who buys, primarily for personal, family, or household purposes, and not for resale, any tangible personal property normally used for personal, family, or household purposes and not for commercial or research purposes. (4) MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT. A contract of limited duration that provides for scheduled maintenance only. (5) MANUFACTURER. A person that is one of the following: a. A manufacturer or producer of property that sells the property under its own name or label. b. A subsidiary of the person who manufactures or produces the property. c. Section 32-1-1.1 Definitions. The following words and phrases when used in this title, for the purpose of this title, shall have meanings respectively ascribed to them in this section, except when the context otherwise requires: (1) ALLEY. A street or highway intended to provide access to the rear or side of lots or buildings in urban districts and not intended for the purpose of through vehicular traffic. (2) ARTERIAL STREET. Section 40-12-270 Disbursement of net proceeds from license taxes and registration fees; Secondary Road Committee created. Section 22-27-3 Authority of local governing bodies as waste collections and disposal; household exemptions; state regulatory program. (a) Generally. (1) The county commission or municipal governing body may, and is hereby authorized to, make available to the general public collection and disposal facilities for solid wastes in a manner acceptable to the department. Section 40-2B-2 Alabama Tax Tribunal. (a) Statement of Purpose. To increase public confidence in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency with tax expertise to resolve disputes between the Department of Revenue and taxpayers, prior to requiring the payment of the amounts in issue or the posting of a bond, but after the taxpayer has had a full opportunity to attempt settlement with the Department of Revenue based, among other things, on the hazards of litigation. Section 40-23-4 Exemptions. (a) There are exempted from the provisions of this division and from the computation of the amount of the tax levied, assessed, or payable under this division the following: (1) The gross proceeds of the sales of lubricating oil and gasoline as defined in Sections 40-17-30 and 40-17-170 and the gross proceeds from those sales of lubricating oil destined for out-of-state use which are transacted in a manner whereby an out-of-state purchaser takes delivery of such oil at a distributor's plant within this state and transports it out-of-state, which are otherwise taxed. (a) A law enforcement officer or, in a Class 1 municipality, a parking enforcement officer or traffic enforcement officer who is not required to be certified by the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission, may cause a motor vehicle to be removed to the nearest garage or other place of safety under any of the following circumstances: (1) The motor vehicle is left unattended on a public street, road, or highway or other property for a period of at least 48 hours. Section 11-67-26 Account of cost of abatement or removal of nuisance; report to governing body; posting of report. Each Class 5 or Class 6 or Class 8 municipality shall keep an account of the cost of abating or removing the nuisance in front of or on each separate lot or parcel of land where the work is done by it or its employees, or by a duly authorized private contractor, company, enterprise, or individual, and shall render an itemized report in writing to the governing body of the municipality showing the cost of removing the nuisance on each separate lot, or in front of the lot and before the report is submitted to the governing body, a copy of the report shall be posted for at least five days prior thereto on or near the chamber door of the governing body, together with a notice of the time when the report shall be submitted to the governing body for confirmation.
