Section 45-45-235.03 Supernumerary allowance. Those persons eligible under either subsections
(a) or (b) of Section 45-45-235, having served 30 years as a Madison County law enforcement
officer, eight of which were served as Sheriff of Madison County, shall be entitled to receive
an amount equal to 75 percent of the monthly salary paid such person at the time of the completion
of his or her service in office, but in no event shall any person receive payments pursuant
to both the supernumerary and disability supernumerary provisions simultaneously. All payments

Section 45-45-235 Participation in program. (a) Any sheriff or any person who has served as
Sheriff of Madison County who meets either of the following qualifications may elect to participate
in the supernumerary sheriff's program: (1) A person who has had 12 years of service as a

County shall begin deducting, upon May 8, 2001, and each month thereafter, from the salaries

Section 45-46-233.21 Salary; funding. Each such supernumerary sheriff shall serve for life
and receive from the county governing body in equal monthly installments, on the first of
each month, an annual salary of 50 percent of the salary of the current Sheriff of Marengo
County, which shall be adjustable in like manner with any salary increase the current sheriff

Section 45-37-123.01 Definitions. For the purposes of this part, the following terms shall
have the following meanings: (1) ACT. The act adding this part, to be called the General Retirement
