Section 45-43-170 Solid waste disposal - Applicability. (a) Any law to the contrary notwithstanding, in addition to any and all other provisions of law or parts of law, relating to solid waste disposal programs, this article shall also be applicable in Lowndes County, in order to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of its people. Section 22-27-17 Disposal fees; disposition of funds; exemptions; review of records; biennial report. (a) Beginning on October 1, 2008, the following disposal fees are levied upon generators of solid waste who dispose of solid waste at solid waste management facilities permitted by the department subject to this chapter, which shall be collected in accordance with subsection (b): (1) One dollar ($1) per ton for all waste disposed of in a municipal solid waste landfill. (a) The regulatory authority shall promulgate rules and regulations directed toward the surface effects of underground coal mining operations, and embodying the following requirements. No commercial site for the disposal of hazardous waste and hazardous substances shall during any calendar year receive and dispose of more than 600,000 tons of waste that cannot be legally disposed of in a solid waste landfill permitted under Subtitle D of RCRA 42 U.S.C. §6941.
