Section 45-41A-11 Ad valorem taxation for educational purposes. The following words and phrases shall have the following meanings: (1) AMENDMENT 8. That amendment to the Constitution that was proposed by Act 650, 1919 Regular Session. (2) AMENDMENT 373. That amendment to the Constitution that was proposed by Act 6, 1978 Second Special Session. (a) In order to provide funds for the operation of the public schools in School District One, Madison County, the governing body of Madison County is hereby authorized by ordinance to levy and provide for the collection of a one percent sales and use tax in School District One, Madison County, which shall be in addition to any and all other county taxes heretofore or hereafter authorized by law in School District One, Madison County. In cases where there is no provision by law authorizing the collection of taxes by an action, the taxes due to the state or to any county, city, town, special school district, or other special district may, after the same shall become delinquent, be collected by the state or by any county, city or town, or county or city board of education, by an action in any court of competent jurisdiction.
