Section 45-37-60.01 Office of coroner abolished. In Jefferson County the office of coroner is abolished and all powers, rights, and duties now or hereafter authorized or required by law to be performed by coroners shall be exercised and performed by the governing body through appointed coroners-medical examiners, representatives, or agents, for the performance of such duties in the entire county or in a designated portion thereof, pursuant to this part and the rules promulgated by the herein established Coroner-Medical Examiners' Commission.
