Section 45-31-242.06 Disposition of funds. The proceeds from the tax hereby authorized, less
the actual cost of collection not to exceed five percent shall be paid by the State Department
of Revenue to the Geneva County Commission to be used for the purposes of fire protection
in Geneva County; and more specifically, for the benefit of those volunteer fire departments
being certified by the Forestry Commission of the State of Alabama or any association or group

(b) It has been shown to be in the public interest that an adequate supply of water be available
in order to fight fires. Such a supply of water is not available in certain unincorporated

Section 9-3-17 Certification as volunteer fire department. (a) The term volunteer fire department
shall apply to and be used to define an organized group of area residents who meet the following
requirements for personnel, training, and equipment: (1) The group shall be organized and
incorporated under the laws of the State of Alabama as a nonprofit organization or as an authority

is to enable all participating volunteer fire departments in Dale County to lower their ISO
ratings and to enable emergency medical service squads to guarantee emergency medical services

Fire Department may assess and collect a service charge by action of the board on all property
served by the department for fire protection services. The service charge shall not exceed

Section 45-48-142.28 Transfer of funds upon dissolution or abandonment of eligible volunteer
fire district. Upon dissolution or abandonment of any eligible volunteer fire district, any
remaining funds derived from this subpart or any assets purchased with the funds derived from
this subpart, after all indebtedness has been satisfied, shall be transferred to the Marshall
County Association of Fire Departments and Rescue Squads. The funds and assets shall be reallocated
