Section 40-26-1 Tax imposed; exemptions; definitions. (a) There is levied and imposed, in addition to all other taxes of every kind now imposed by law, a privilege or license tax upon every person, firm, or corporation engaging in the business of renting or furnishing any room or rooms, lodging, or accommodations to transients in any hotel, motel, inn, tourist camp, tourist cabin, marine slip, place or space for tent camping, place or space provided for a motor home, travel trailer, self-propelled camper or house car, truck camper, or similar recreational vehicle commonly known as a R.V., or any other place in which rooms, lodgings, or accommodations are regularly furnished to transients for a consideration, in any county which is located in the geographic region comprising the Alabama mountain lakes area, those being Blount, Cherokee, Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Etowah, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Morgan, and Winston, in an amount to be...

(a) The provisions of this section shall apply only to those portions of Colbert County located outside the corporate boundaries of the Cities of Tuscumbia, Sheffield, and Muscle Shoals. Section 45-18-81.27 Costs and fees. (a) An applicant may be assessed a fee when the applicant is approved for the program. The amount of the assessment for participation in the program shall be in addition to any court costs and assessments for victims or drug, alcohol, or anger management treatment required by law, and are in addition to costs of supervision, treatment, and restitution for which the person may be responsible. Pretrial diversion program fees as established by this subpart may be waived or reduced for just cause at the discretion of the district attorney. A schedule of payments for any of these fees may be established by the district attorney. Any officer, director, trustee, partner, manager, member, and governing person and other member of the governing authority of a qualified entity who does not receive compensation for serving in such capacity. Section 45-48-101.22 Boundaries of districts. (a) Following the release of any federal decennial census, the board, by majority vote, may change the boundaries of the districts in order to create single-member districts that comply with the one-person, one-vote requirement of the United States Constitution and may provide that members be elected from single-member districts, reside within those districts, and be elected by majority vote of the electors voting in the district. Section 34-14A-15 Recovery fund. (a) The board may establish a Homeowners' Recovery Fund for the purpose of consumer protection, consumer education, and consumer awareness. An aggrieved homeowner may recover actual economic damages, not including interest and court costs, sustained within the state as the direct result of conduct of a licensee in violation of this chapter or the rules of the board from the Homeowners' Recovery Fund.
