Section 45-4-244.20 County sales tax to parallel state tax; exemptions; collection and disposition of funds; enforcement. (a) All words, terms, and phrases that are defined in Article 1 of Chapter 23 of Title 40 shall, where used in this section have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in Article 1 except where the context herein clearly indicates a different meaning. (a) Except as provided in subsection (c), every corporation, joint stock company, or association subject to income tax under this chapter shall file a return with the Department of Revenue for each taxable year, stating specifically the items of its gross income and the deductions and credits allowed by this chapter. (a)(1) With respect to those municipalities and counties for which the department serves as the collecting sales tax agent from time to time, when the total state sales tax for which any person is liable under Chapter 23 of Title 40 averages less than two hundred dollars ($200) per month during the preceding calendar year, a quarterly sales tax return and remittance in lieu of monthly returns may be made to the department.
