Section 32-13-3 Authority to sell; notice; bill of sale; records; voiding of sale; title. (a) A person, as defined in Section 40-12-240, in possession of a motor vehicle that is considered an abandoned motor vehicle may sell the motor vehicle at a public auction. (b)(1) Notice of the date, time, and place of the sale and a description of the motor vehicle to be sold, including the year, make, model, and vehicle identification number, shall be given by publication once a week for two successive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation in the county in which the sale is to be held, provided the vehicle is currently registered in the county. In counties in which no newspaper is published, notice shall be given by posting such notice in a conspicuous place at the courthouse. Section 45-12-241.01 Privilege license tax for mandatory solid waste disposal program. (a) This section shall only apply to Choctaw County. (b) As used in this section, state sales and use tax means the tax imposed by the state sales and use tax statutes, including, but not limited to, Sections 40-23-1, 40-23-2, 40-23-3, 40-23-4, 40-23-60, 40-23-61, 40-23-62, and 40-23-63 of the Code of Alabama 1975. (c) The County Commission of Choctaw County may levy, in addition to all other taxes, a privilege license tax against gross sales in an amount up to two cents which shall be exclusively for the operational fund of the county mandatory solid waste disposal program. Section 45-2-244.004 Duties of cigarette wholesalers, jobbers, and retailers. (a) It shall be the duty of each wholesale dealer or jobber who sells, stores, or delivers cigarettes to retail sellers in this county to affix to each package of cigarettes sold or delivered in the county the designated stamp. Each wholesaler or jobber who desires to do so may purchase the stamps from the county commission of the county at a 10 percent discount on the entire amount of sale when the purchases are made in quantities of one thousand dollars ($1,000) or more.
