Section 40-23-104 Collection of taxes before registration or licensing; proof of purchase price;
proof of payment of tax. (a) The licensing official shall collect all of the following: (1)
The taxes levied by this article. (2) The municipal gross receipts or sales taxes and county
sales taxes authorized by general or local law on sales made by a person or firm other than
a licensed dealer. (3) The municipal and county use taxes authorized by general or local law
on sales made by dealers doing business outside the State of Alabama and on sales made by
licensed Alabama dealers where municipal and county sales taxes were not collected at the
time of purchase. (4) The state use tax on any such automotive vehicle, motorboat, truck trailer,
trailer, semitrailer, or travel trailer required to be registered or licensed by the judge

Section 40-9C-3 Definitions. For purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases
shall have the following meanings: (1) ABATE, ABATEMENT. A reduction or elimination of a taxpayer's
liability for tax. An abatement of local and noneducation transaction taxes imposed under
Chapter 23 of this title shall relieve the seller from the obligation to collect and pay over
the local portion of the noneducation transaction tax as if the sale were to a person exempt,
to the extent of the abatement, from the local portion of the noneducation transaction tax.

a business subject to the tax levied by this subpart, and each casual sale that is subject
to tax, shall add to the sales price and collect from the purchaser the amount due by the

Section 45-31-241.02 Levy of tax for jail construction and maintenance; excess funds for road
and bridge projects. (a) This section shall only apply to Geneva County. (b) As used in this
section, state sales tax means the tax imposed by Article 1 of Chapter 23 of Title 40 and

Section 45-35-244 Definitions. (a) The following words, terms, and phrases as used in this
subpart shall have the following respective meanings except where the context clearly indicates
a different meaning: (1) COUNTY. Houston County in the State of Alabama. (2) COUNTY GROSS

and enforce reasonable rules and regulations related to the implementation, administration,
