Section 16-46-7 Adoption of rules and regulations; advisory committee. The State Board of Education may adopt rules and regulations for the administration and enforcement of this chapter and shall require the Chancellor to establish an advisory committee of owners or operators of private postsecondary institutions, to which this chapter applies, and of other persons with knowledge in the field to which this chapter applies to advise the Chancellor in the administration of this chapter relating to private postsecondary institutions. The advisory committee may review any action taken or policy established by the Department of Postsecondary Education in the administration of this chapter and may offer recommendations to the Chancellor or State Board of Education. Reimbursement for per diem and travel to advisory committee meetings shall be authorized under this chapter and shall be expended by voucher as required by the Department of Postsecondary Education. (a)(1) With respect to those municipalities and counties for which the department serves as the collecting sales tax agent from time to time, when the total state sales tax for which any person is liable under Chapter 23 of Title 40 averages less than two hundred dollars ($200) per month during the preceding calendar year, a quarterly sales tax return and remittance in lieu of monthly returns may be made to the department.
