Section 40-5-4 Commissions. The tax collector shall be entitled to receive commissions on taxes collected by him, not including taxes on real estate bid in by the state at tax sales and taxes which would be due on property except for the provisions of the presently applicable law exempting homesteads from state taxes, as follows: In counties where collections, not including taxes on real estate bid in by the state at tax sales and taxes which would be due on property except for the provisions of the presently applicable law exempting homesteads from state taxes, do not exceed $12,000, the rate of commission shall be 10 percent on the first $5,000, five percent on the next $4,000 and four percent on the remainder. Section 34-6-33 Surrender of license; credit for unused portion; forfeiture. If any licensee shall voluntarily relinquish personal supervision, management, and control of any billiard room, he or she shall surrender his or her license to the probate judge who may issue a new license to some other person, firm, or corporation to continue the business, under the provisions of this chapter, in which event credit shall be given for the unused portion of the surrendered license. (a) Effective January 1, 2000, ad valorem taxes on motor vehicles shall be assessed and the tax collected forward on a current basis to coincide with the collection of motor vehicle license taxes and registration fees.
