Section 32-8-31 Exemptions. No certificate of title shall be issued under this chapter for
any of the following: (1) A vehicle owned by the United States or any agency thereof. (2)
A vehicle owned by a manufacturer or dealer and held for sale, even though incidentally moved
on the highway or used for purposes of testing or demonstration, or a vehicle used by a manufacturer
solely for testing. (3) A vehicle owned by a nonresident of this state and not required by
law to be registered in this state. (4) A vehicle for which the Alabama license plate issuing
official has verified that both the current owner and operator is recorded as the owner and
operator on a currently effective certificate of title issued by another state and the certificate
of title is being held by a recorded lienholder. (5) A vehicle moved solely by animal power.

Section 32-8-2 Definitions. For the purpose of this chapter, the following terms shall have
the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly
indicates a different meaning: (1) CURRENT ADDRESS. A new address different from the address
shown on the application or on the certificate of title. The owner, within 30 days after the
address is changed from that shown on the application or on the certificate of title, shall

Section 40-12-445 Definitions. As used in this article, the following words shall have the
following meanings: (1) AUTOMOTIVE DISMANTLER AND PARTS RECYCLER. As defined in Section 40-12-410.

Section 45-43-240.25 Vehicle information required for assessment. Before any motor vehicle
is assessed, the tax assessor shall be furnished the current tag number on the motor vehicle
unless the motor vehicle is new, in which case, the tax assessor shall be furnished a bona
fide bill of sale from the dealer showing the date the vehicle was bought new. In the case
of a used motor vehicle brought into the state from a state that provides that upon sale or
transfer of the motor vehicle the tags are either surrendered to an appropriate authority
or subsequently reissued by the seller, the tax assessor shall be furnished a bona fide certificate
of title properly assigned which shows when the motor vehicle was sold to an individual, firm,

Section 40-17-322 Definitions. As used in this article and unless the context requires otherwise,

Section 13A-8-22.1 Advertisement for purchase of a salvage or junk branded motor vehicle. (a)
A person, as defined in Section 32-8-2, who advertises in a newspaper, on a website, on a
public display or sign, or through an online service, for the purchase of a salvage or junk
branded motor vehicle shall clearly and conspicuously disclose on the advertisement his or
her true and correct company name, physical address, telephone number, and current license
number issued under, and registered in accordance with, Article 8 or Article 9, Chapter 12,
Title 40, or Chapter 8, Title 13A. (b)(1) A person who advertises in violation of subsection
