(a) Notwithstanding Sections 32-6-64, 32-6-67, and 32-6-68, upon application and submission of the appropriate military identification card, Leave and Earnings Statement, or DD214 form to the judge of probate, license commissioner, or other license plate issuing official, compliance with motor vehicle registration and licensing laws, payment of regular fees required by law for license tags or plates, and payment of an additional fee of three dollars ($3) for the initial issuance of the tag for a private passenger, pickup truck, or pleasure motor vehicle, the owner of a motor vehicle who is a resident of Alabama and an active or retired member of the United States Air Force, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marines or has been honorably discharged from any of these branches of service shall be issued a military distinctive license plate designating the appropriate branch of service. Section 32-7A-12 Suspension of registration. (a) The department shall suspend the vehicle registration of any motor vehicle determined to be in violation of Section 32-7A-4, including any motor vehicle operated in violation of Section 32-7A-16 by an operator other than the owner of the vehicle.
