Section 45-37A-52-51 Statement of candidacy. Any person desiring to become a candidate in any election for the office of council member may become such candidate by filing in the office of the judge of probate of the county in which such city is situated, a statement in writing of such candidacy and an affidavit taken and certified by such judge of probate or by a notary public that such person is duly qualified to hold the office for which he or she desires to be a candidate. (a) After a municipal code lien has been recorded with the office of the probate judge of the county in which the real property lies, the Class 2 municipality may identify those properties on which to commence a judicial in rem foreclosure in accordance with this article, except that those properties the Class 2 municipality identifies as owner occupied shall not be subject to judicial in rem foreclosure under this article. (a) Every person, firm, or corporation residing in or owning a motor vehicle which is principally used in Crenshaw County who desires to operate a motor vehicle on the public highways of Alabama shall first be required to pay ad valorem taxes and sales taxes to the judge of probate.
