Section 37-3-7 Powers and duties of commission generally. It shall be the duty of the commission: (1) To regulate common carriers by motor vehicle as provided in this chapter, and, to that end, the commission may establish reasonable rules and requirements with respect to adequate service, transportation of passengers, baggage, freight and express, uniform systems of accounts, records and reports, preservation of records, qualifications and maximum hours of service of employees and safety of operation and equipment. Section 37-3-20 Tariffs of common carriers. (a) Every common carrier by motor vehicle shall file with the commission and keep open to the public inspection tariffs showing all the rates, fares and charges for transportation and all services in connection therewith of passengers or property in intrastate commerce in the State of Alabama between points on its own route and between points on its own route and points on the route of any other such carrier, or on the route of any common carrier by railroad or express, or water, when a through route and route and joint rate shall have been established. Section 40-19-13 Department of Revenue to prescribe rules, etc. The Department of Revenue is empowered and directed to collect all of the mileage taxes under this chapter.
