Section 40-8-1 Classification of property; assessment rate. (a) On and after October 1, 1978,
with respect to ad valorem taxes levied by the state, and, unless otherwise provided, with
respect to ad valorem taxes levied by a county, municipality, or other taxing authority other
than the state, all taxable property shall be divided into the following classes and no other
and shall be assessed for ad valorem tax purposes at the following ratios of assessed value
to the fair and reasonable market value of such property, or, as may be provided by law, to
the current use value of such property: CLASS I. All property of utilities used in the business
of such utilities, 30 percent. CLASS II. All property not otherwise classified, 20 percent.

Section 11-40-65 Filing petition for foreclosure; form of petition; notice. (a) After a municipal
code lien has been recorded with the office of the probate judge of the county in which the
real property lies, the Class 2 municipality may identify those properties on which to commence
a judicial in rem foreclosure in accordance with this article, except that those properties
the Class 2 municipality identifies as owner occupied shall not be subject to judicial in
rem foreclosure under this article. The Class 2 municipality shall not file a petition for
judicial in rem foreclosure in accordance with this article for a period of six months following

Section 41-14A-9 Procedures for payment of losses. (a) When the State Treasurer becomes aware
that a default or insolvency has occurred, the State Treasurer shall provide notice as required
in subsection (b) and implement the following procedures: (1) The State Treasurer shall obtain

fails, neglects, or refuses to abate the condition after notice to do so, the enforcing official
shall cause the offending grass or weeds to be cut. (b) Upon completion of the abatement work

Section 45-37A-41 Removal or demolition of unsafe structures. (a) The City of Bessemer shall
have authority, after notice as provided herein, to move or demolish buildings and structures,
