Section 34-30-3 Private independent practice of social work. No person may engage in the independent
clinical practice of social work unless he or she is: (1) Licensed under this chapter as a
licensed independent clinical social worker; and (2) Has a doctorate or master's degree from
a school of social work approved, accredited, or in candidacy granted by the Council on Social
Work Education; and (3) Has had two years' full-time or three years' part-time postgraduate
experience under appropriate supervision in the specified social work method or four years'
full-time or five years' part-time postgraduate experience under appropriate supervision in

Section 34-30-22 Qualifications of applicants. The State Board of Social Work Examiners shall
issue a license as a "licensed bachelor social worker," a "licensed master
social worker," or a "licensed independent clinical social worker" to an applicant
who satisfies all of the following requirements: (1) Is at least 19 years of age. (2) Has

Section 34-30-57 Duties generally. In addition to the duties set forth elsewhere in this chapter,

Section 34-30-20 License requirements. (a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b),
no person may engage in the practice of social work, holding himself or herself forth as a
"social worker," a "licensed bachelor social worker," a "licensed
master social worker," or a "licensed independent clinical social worker,"
unless that person is so licensed under this chapter or excluded according to its provisions.
(b) The board shall reissue the appropriate redesignated license to any person licensed on
August 1, 2016, as a graduate social worker or a certified social worker. Notwithstanding

Section 34-34A-6 Creation of board of examiners; members; qualifications of members; term of
membership; duties of board. (a) The State Board of Examiners for Dietetics/Nutrition Practice
is hereby created. (b) The board shall consist of three members. Two members of the board

Section 26-10A-19 Investigation. (a) A pre-placement investigation shall be made to determine
the suitability of each petitioner and the home in which the adoptee will be placed. The investigation
shall include a criminal background investigation and any other circumstances which might
be relevant to the placement of an adoptee with the petitioners. A copy of the pre-placement
investigation shall be filed with the court when the petition for adoption is filed. (b) An
individual or couple may initiate a pre-placement investigation by request directly through
the Department of Human Resources or a licensed child placing agency or by filing a request
with the probate court. The court may appoint any agency or individual qualified under subsection

Section 36-25-1 Definitions. Whenever used in this chapter, the following words and terms shall

Section 40-2B-2 Alabama Tax Tribunal. (a) Statement of Purpose. To increase public confidence
in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency with
tax expertise to resolve disputes between the Department of Revenue and taxpayers, prior to
requiring the payment of the amounts in issue or the posting of a bond, but after the taxpayer
has had a full opportunity to attempt settlement with the Department of Revenue based, among
other things, on the hazards of litigation. By establishing an independent Alabama Tax Tribunal
within the executive branch of government, this chapter provides taxpayers with a means of
resolving controversies that insures both the appearance and the reality of due process and
