Section 34-24-70 Qualifications of applicants. (a) The following constitute the requirements for the issuance of a certificate of qualification for a license to practice medicine in this state: (1) MEDICAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENT. All applicants for a certificate of qualification shall present a diploma or evidence of graduation from any of the following institutions: a. A college of medicine or school of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association. b. A college of osteopathy accredited by the American Osteopathic Association. c. Section 34-24-337 Renewal of certificate; reinstatement of license. (a) Renewal of license. Every person licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of Alabama shall, on or before December 31 of each succeeding year, apply to the commission for renewal of a certificate of registration which shall be effective during the next calendar year. The board or any citizen of this state may bring action in the Circuit Court of Montgomery County to enjoin any person from practicing veterinary medicine without a currently valid license or temporary permit. (a) Any public or private animal shelter, animal control agency operated by a political subdivision of this state, or humane society shall make provisions for the sterilization of all dogs or cats acquired from a shelter, agency, or humane society by providing for all of the following: (1) Sterilization by a licensed veterinarian before relinquishing custody of the animal.
