Section 34-21-1 Definitions. For purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall have the respective meanings ascribed by this section: (1) ADVISORY COUNCILS. Advisory councils provided for under the terms of this chapter. (2) BOARD. The Board of Nursing created hereunder. (3) COMPACT. The Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact provided in Article 7. (4) COORDINATED LICENSE INFORMATION SYSTEM. A licensing integrated database and process for collecting, storing, and sharing nurse licensure and enforcement information that includes all licensed registered nurses and licensed practical/vocational nurses. The system includes all disciplinary history of each nurse, as administered by a nonprofit organization and controlled by licensing boards. (5) LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE. A person who is currently licensed to practice practical nursing. Section 34-27B-7 Issuance, use, renewal of license; temporary license. (a) The board shall issue a respiratory therapist license to any person who meets the qualifications required by this chapter and who pays the license fee established herein. (b) Any person who is issued a license as a respiratory therapist under this chapter may use the words "licensed respiratory therapist" or the letters "LRT" in connection with his or her name to denote his or her license. (c) A license issued under this chapter shall be subject to biennial renewal. Section 22-8A-4 Advance Directive for Health Care; living will and health care proxy. (a) Any competent adult may execute a living will directing the providing, withholding, or withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment and artificially provided nutrition and hydration. Section 45-8-22 Special licenses; additional taxes; maintenance of records. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation, other than the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, to sell at retail in Calhoun County any spirituous or vinous liquors without first obtaining a special license from the judge of probate that shall be in addition to all other licenses required by law.
