Section 22-2-9 Council on Dental Health, Council on Animal and Environmental Health, Council on Prevention of Disease and Medical Care and Council on Health Costs, Administration and Organization - Creation; duties; composition; appointment and terms of members. (a) There are hereby created four councils to be known as: (1) The Council on Dental Health; (2) The Council on Animal and Environmental Health; (3) The Council on the Prevention of Disease and Medical Care; and (4) The Council on Health Costs, Administration and Organization. (b) It shall be the duty of the councils to provide public health information, evaluation of data, research, advice and recommendations to the State Committee of Public Health and perform such other functions as may be appropriate and as requested by the State Committee of Public Health. Section 27-21A-1 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings, respectively: (1) AGENT. A person who is appointed or employed by a health maintenance organization and who engages in solicitation of membership in such organization. Section 40-26B-21 Privilege assessment on nursing facilities. To provide further for the availability of indigent health care, the operation of the Medicaid program, and the maintenance and expansion of medical services: (a) There is levied and shall be collected a privilege assessment on the business activities of every nursing facility in the State of Alabama. The privilege assessment imposed is in addition to all other taxes and assessments, and shall be at the annual rate of one thousand eight hundred ninety-nine dollars and ninety-six cents ($1,899.96) for each bed in the nursing facility. Beginning September 1, 2020, the privilege assessment shall be increased from one thousand eight hundred ninety-nine dollars and ninety-six cents ($1,899.96) for each bed in the nursing facility, by an addition to the privilege assessment equal to three hundred twenty-seven dollars and forty-eight cents ($327.48) per annum. Section 40-26B-70 Definitions. For purposes of this article, the following terms shall have the following meanings: (1) ACCESS PAYMENT. A payment by the Medicaid program to an eligible hospital for inpatient or outpatient hospital care, or both, provided to a Medicaid recipient. The following words and phrases used in this chapter, and others evidently intended as the equivalent thereof, shall, in the absence of clear implication otherwise, be given the following respective interpretations herein: (1) ALCOHOLISM. An individual who is a part-time or full-time employee of the long term care facility. (2) LONG TERM CARE FACILITY.
