Section 32-6-90 Issuance of special tags. Owners of motor vehicles who are residents of the State of Alabama and who hold a valid amateur radio station license issued by the Civil Air Patrol, upon application, accompanied by proof of ownership of such amateur radio station license, complying with the state motor vehicle laws relating to registration and licensing of motor vehicles, and upon the payment of the regular license fee for tags, as provided by law, and the additional payment of a fee of $1.00, shall be issued license plates, as provided by law, for private or pleasure motor vehicles, upon which, in lieu of the numbers as prescribed by law, shall be inscribed the official Civil Air Patrol call letters of such applicant as assigned by the Federal Communications Commission.
