Section 25-5-1 Definitions. Throughout this chapter, the following words and phrases as used therein shall be considered to have the following meanings, respectively, unless the context shall clearly indicate a different meaning in the connection used: (1) COMPENSATION. The money benefits to be paid on account of injury or death, as provided in Articles 3 and 4. The recovery which an employee may receive by action at law under Article 2 of this chapter is termed "recovery of civil damages," as provided for in Sections 25-5-31 and 25-5-34. "Compensation" does not include medical and surgical treatment and attention, medicine, medical and surgical supplies, and crutches and apparatus furnished an employee on account of an injury. Section 13A-9-150 Public assistance fraud; penalties. (a) For the purposes of this section, public assistance means money or property provided directly or indirectly to eligible persons through programs of the federal government, the state, or any political subdivision thereof, including any program administered by a public housing authority. Section 16-6F-7 Applicant proposals; conversion to public charter school; terms of charters; contracts. (a) Request for proposals. (1) To solicit, encourage, and guide the development of quality public charter school applications, every local school board, in its role as public charter school authorizer, shall issue and broadly publicize a request for proposals for public charter school applications by July 17, 2015, and by November 1 in each subsequent year. Section 25-4-16 Wages. (a) Prior to January 1, 1983, "wages," as used in this chapter, shall mean such remuneration as was defined in this section prior to such date. (b) On and after January 1, 1983, "wages," as used in this chapter, shall mean every form of remuneration paid or received for personal services, including the cash value of any remuneration paid in any medium other than cash. The board is authorized to establish a flexible employee benefit plan for employees in compliance with Section 125 and any other applicable sections of the Internal Revenue Code.
