Section 22-18-50 Enactment and text of Emergency Medical Services Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact. The Emergency Medical Services Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact is hereby enacted into law and entered into with all other jurisdictions legally joining therein in form substantially as follows: SECTION 1. PURPOSE In order to protect the public through verification of competency and ensure accountability for patient care related activities all states license emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, such as emergency medical technicians (EMTs), advanced EMTs and paramedics. This Compact is intended to facilitate the day to day movement of EMS personnel across state boundaries in the performance of their EMS duties as assigned by an appropriate authority and authorize state EMS offices to afford immediate legal recognition to EMS personnel licensed in a member state. Section 27-21A-12 Protection against insolvency. (a) Unless otherwise provided below, each health maintenance organization shall deposit with the commissioner, or with any organization or trustee acceptable to him through which a custodial or controlled account is utilized, cash, securities, or any combination of these or other measures acceptable to him in the amount set forth in this section. (b) The amount for an organization that is beginning operation shall be the greater of: (1) five percent of its estimated expenditures for health care services for its first year of operation, (2) twice its estimated average monthly uncovered expenditures for its first year of operation, or (3) $100,000. Section 27-21A-15 Powers of insurers and health care service plans. (a) An insurance company licensed in this state, or a health care service plan authorized to do business in this state, may either directly or through a subsidiary or affiliate organize and operate a health maintenance organization under the provisions of this chapter. Section 27-21A-7 Evidence of coverage and charges for health care services. (a)(1) Every enrollee residing in this state is entitled to an evidence of coverage. If the enrollee obtains such coverage through an insurance policy or a contract issued by a health care service plan, the insurer or the health care service plan shall issue the evidence of coverage. Otherwise, the health maintenance organization shall issue the evidence of coverage.
