Section 27-2-10 Appointment, etc., of State Fire Marshal, assistants, etc.; compensation and
bond thereof; contracting for professional services. (a) Subject to the Merit System Act and
rules and regulations issued pursuant thereto, the commissioner shall prescribe the qualifications
and duties of and appoint, employ, bond, and remove a State Fire Marshal and such other assistants,
deputies, actuaries, examiners, and other employees as he deems necessary for the efficient
performance of his duties under this code. (b) The commissioner shall fix the compensation
of all such personnel in accordance with the Merit System Act and the pay plan of the state
Personnel Department. (c) The commissioner may contract for and procure on a basis of fee,
and without giving such persons any status in the classified service of the state, such independently

Section 31-9C-2 Alabama First Responder Wireless Commission. (a) There is created the Alabama
First Responder Wireless Commission, which shall be responsible for promoting the efficient
use of public resources to ensure that law enforcement, fire and rescue services, and essential

(a) This section shall apply only in Blount County. (b) A district for the delivery of fire
and emergency medical services may be formed in any unincorporated area of the county pursuant
to this section subject to the approval of a majority of the qualified electors who vote at
a referendum election for that purpose in the proposed district and for the approval of the

Section 34-21-2 Board of Nursing generally. (a) There is created the Board of Nursing, which
shall be composed of 13 members to be appointed and have the duties and powers enumerated
in this section. The membership of the board shall be inclusive and reflect the racial, gender,

Section 40-2B-2 Alabama Tax Tribunal. (a) Statement of Purpose. To increase public confidence
in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency with
tax expertise to resolve disputes between the Department of Revenue and taxpayers, prior to
requiring the payment of the amounts in issue or the posting of a bond, but after the taxpayer
has had a full opportunity to attempt settlement with the Department of Revenue based, among
