Section 9-18A-1 Enactment of Southern States Energy Compact. The Legislature hereby enacts, and the State of Alabama hereby enters into, the Southern States Energy Compact with any and all states legally joining therein in accordance with its terms, in the form substantially as follows: "SOUTHERN STATES ENERGY COMPACT "Article I. Policy and Purpose. "The party states recognize that the proper employment and conservation of energy and employment of energy-related facilities, materials, and products, within the context of a responsible regard for the environment, can assist substantially in the industrialization of the south and the development of a balanced economy for the region. As used in this chapter, the term "health benefit plan" has the following meaning: A health insurance policy, including a self-insured health plan, that covers hospital, medical, or surgical expenses, health maintenance organizations, preferred provider organizations, medical service organizations, physician-hospital organizations, or any other person, firm, corporation, joint venture, or other similar business entity that pays for, purchases, or furnishes health care services to patients, insureds, or beneficiaries in this state. Section 27-54-5 Implementation of coverage. (a) A group health benefit plan, policy, or contract that provides coverage for the services to be offered pursuant to this chapter may contain provisions for maximum benefits and coinsurance and limitations, deductibles, exclusions, and utilization review protocols to the extent that these provisions are not inconsistent with the requirements of this chapter. Section 16-25A-43 Establishment of flexible employee benefit plan; long-term care plan. The board is authorized to establish a flexible employee benefit plan for employees in compliance with Section 125 and any other applicable sections of the Internal Revenue Code. (a) All group health benefit plans, policies, contracts, and certificates executed, delivered, issued for delivery, continued, or renewed in this state on or after August 1, 2004, shall offer, at the time of proposal, sale, or renewal of a policy subject to this chapter, to include colorectal cancer examinations within the coverage.
