Section 45-37-231.01 Residential limitations on criminal sex offenders. (a) This section shall only apply in Jefferson County. (b)(1) No adult or unrelated juvenile criminal sex offender may establish a residence or other living accommodation in a residence where another criminal sex offender whose name appears on the Jefferson County Sheriff's official published sex offender list resides. (2) No more than one adult criminal sex offender whose name appears on the Jefferson County Sheriff's official published sex offender list may establish residence or other living accommodations in any apartment complex unless there is a distance of 100 yards or more from the residence in the apartment complex of any other adult criminal sex offender. (3) The owner or lessee of the property who knowingly, willingly, or intentionally permits a violation of subdivision (1) or subdivision (2) shall be subject to a civil penalty of five thousand dollars ($5,000) for each violation.
