Section 34-24-603 Definitions. Unless otherwise indicated from the context, the terms set out
below, as used in this article shall have the following meanings: (1) APPLICANT. A person
who has submitted or that is in the process of submitting a registration under this article.
(2) BOARD. The Alabama Board of Medical Examiners. (3) CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE. A drug, substance,
or immediate precursor identified, defined, or listed in Sections 20-2-20 to 20-2-32, inclusive.
(4) HOSPITAL. A health care institution licensed by the Alabama Department of Public Health
and has the same definition as provided in Chapter 420-5-7 of the Alabama Administrative Code.
The term shall include any outpatient facility or clinic that is separated from the hospital
that is owned, operated, or controlled by the hospital. (5) PAIN MANAGEMENT SERVICES. Those
medical services that involve the prescription of controlled substances in order to treat

Section 38-1-7 (Effective October 1, 2015 until September 30, 2017) Drug screening program.
(a) As used in this section, the following words shall have the following meanings: (1) DRUG.
Includes all of the following: a. A controlled substance for which a medical prescription
or other legal authorization is required for purchase or possession, including, but not limited
to: An amphetamine, a tetrahydrocannabinol, oxycodone, cocaine, phencyclidine (PCP), an opiate,

Section 22-7A-1 Physician agreements; dentist agreements. (a) For the purposes of this chapter,
the following words shall have the following meanings: (1) DENTIST. A person licensed to practice
dentistry in this state. (2) DENTIST AGREEMENT or AGREEMENT. A contract between a dentist
and a patient or his or her legal representative in which the dentist or the dentist's medical
practice agrees to provide dental services to the patient for an agreed upon fee and period
of time. (3) DENTIST PRACTICE. A dentist or a dental practice of a dentist that charges a
periodic fee for dental services and which does not bill a third party any additional fee

Section 25-5-1 Definitions. Throughout this chapter, the following words and phrases as used
therein shall be considered to have the following meanings, respectively, unless the context
shall clearly indicate a different meaning in the connection used: (1) COMPENSATION. The money

Section 30-3-4.2 Grandparent visitation. (a) For the purposes of this section, the following
words have the following meanings: (1) GRANDPARENT. The parent of a parent, whether the relationship
is created biologically or by adoption. (2) HARM. A finding by the court, by clear and convincing

Section 41-15B-2.2 Allocation of trust fund revenues. (a) For each fiscal year, beginning October
1, 1999, contingent upon the Children First Trust Fund receiving tobacco revenues and upon
appropriation by the Legislature, an amount of up to and including two hundred twenty-five
thousand dollars ($225,000), or equivalent percentage of the total fund, shall be designated
