Section 13A-6-138 Domestic violence by strangulation or suffocation. (a) For the purposes of
this section, the following terms have the following meanings: (1) STRANGULATION. Intentionally
causing asphyxia by closure or compression of the blood vessels or air passages of the neck
as a result of external pressure on the neck. (2) SUFFOCATION. Intentionally causing asphyxia
by depriving a person of air or by preventing a person from breathing through the inhalation
of toxic gases or by blocking or obstructing the airway of a person, by any means other than
by strangulation. (b) A person commits the crime of domestic violence by strangulation or
suffocation if he or she commits an assault with intent to cause physical harm or commits
the crime of menacing pursuant to Section 13A-6-23, by strangulation or suffocation or attempted
strangulation or suffocation and the victim is a current or former spouse, parent, step-parent,

Section 19-3B-413 Cy pres. (a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b), if a particular
charitable purpose becomes unlawful, impracticable, impossible to achieve, or wasteful: (1)
the trust does not fail, in whole or in part; (2) the trust property does not revert to the
settlor or the settlor's successors in interest; and (3) the court may apply cy pres to modify
or terminate the trust by directing that the trust property be applied or distributed, in
whole or in part, in a manner consistent with the settlor's charitable purposes. (b) A provision

the juvenile court may make any of the following orders of disposition to protect the welfare

Section 15-20A-19 Adult sex offender - Sexually violent predator. (a) The state, upon conviction
and prior to sentencing, may petition the sentencing court to enter an order declaring a person
convicted in this state of a sexually violent or predatory offense as a sexually violent predator.
(b) At sentencing, a court may declare a person to be a sexually violent predator. For the
