Section 11-101A-8 Powers of authority. (a) In addition to all other powers granted elsewhere in this chapter, and subject to the express provisions of its certificate of incorporation, an authority shall have the following powers, together with all powers incidental thereto or necessary to the discharge thereof in corporate form: (1) To have succession by its corporate name for the duration of time, which may be in perpetuity, specified in its certificate of incorporation, or until dissolved as provided in Section 11-101A-24. (2) To sue and be sued in its own name in civil suits and actions, and to defend suits and actions against it, subject, however, to Chapter 93 of this title, which chapter is hereby made applicable to the authority. Section 24-1-6 Establishment of rentals and tenant selection in low rent housing projects. (a) It is declared to be the policy of this state that each housing authority shall manage and operate its low rent housing projects in an efficient manner so as to enable it to fix the rentals for dwelling accommodations at the lowest possible rates consistent with its providing decent, safe, and sanitary dwelling accommodations for persons of low income, and that no housing authority shall construct or operate any such project for profit, or as a source of revenue of the city or town. Section 34-1-3 State Board of Public Accountancy. (a) There is created a board of public accountancy in and for the State of Alabama, to be known as the Alabama State Board of Public Accountancy. The board shall consist of seven members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. Members of the board shall be citizens of the United States and residents of the state. Section 34-14A-20 Alabama Construction Trade Academy Fund; Alabama Construction Trade Advisory Council; applications for funding; program guidelines. (a) The Alabama Construction Trade Academy Fund is established in the State Treasury. The fund shall be comprised of federal, state, and private funding through direct budgetary funding and grants for the expansion of construction trade education. To the extent practicable, monies in the fund shall be used to leverage other forms of funding from private sources.
