Section 40-9B-3 Definitions. (a) For purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases
mean: (1) ABATE, ABATEMENT. A reduction or elimination of a taxpayer's liability for tax or
payments required to be made in lieu thereof. An abatement of transaction taxes imposed under
Chapter 23 of this title, or payments required to be made in lieu thereof, shall relieve the
seller from the obligation to collect and pay over the transaction tax as if the sale were
to a person exempt, to the extent of the abatement, from the transaction tax. (2) ALTERNATIVE
ENERGY RESOURCES. The definition given in Section 40-18-1. (3) CONSTRUCTION RELATED TRANSACTION

Section 11-65-2 Definitions. (a) The following words and phrases used in this chapter, and
others evidently intended as the equivalent thereof, shall, unless the context clearly indicates
otherwise, have the following respective meanings: (1) ALABAMA-BRED. When this term is used

Section 28-3-190 Levy of tax; collection; disposition of proceeds by localities; enforcement
and administration; penalties; exclusive nature of tax. (a) Levy. In addition to the excise
tax levied by Article 5A of Chapter 3 of this title and the licenses provided for by Chapter
3A of this title and by Section 28-3-194, and any acts amendatory thereof, supplementary thereto
or substituted therefor, and municipal and county licenses, there is hereby levied a privilege
or excise tax on every person licensed under the provisions of Chapter 3A who sells, stores,
or receives for the purpose of distribution, to any person, firm, corporation, club, or association

Section 11-68-11 Issuance of certificate; factors considered; reasons for rejection; application
for reconsideration; effect of rejection on issuance of building permit. (a) The historic
preservation commission shall approve an application and issue a certificate of appropriateness

Section 20-1-133 Permit required for manufacturing, processing, packaging, sale, etc., of mellorine;
application and fee therefor. No person shall operate a plant producing, manufacturing, processing,
freezing, or packaging mellorine without a permit from the commissioner to engage in such

Section 30-3-171 Issuance of notice to withhold, etc., license. Upon application to the department
for support services by an obligee alleging the existence of a delinquency or failure to comply
with subpoenas or warrants relating to paternity or child support proceedings, the department
may, upon an administrative determination that there is a delinquency or a failure to comply,
issue a notice of intent to withhold, restrict use of, or suspend a license. The notice shall
be served upon the obligor personally or by certified mail or as otherwise provided in the

Section 22-25C-1 Operation of facilities; bond; closure cost estimates. (a) Notwithstanding
any provision of law, and except as provided in Section 22-25C-2, the Alabama Department of
Environmental Management (ADEM), prior to the issuance of a permit or prior to a modification
