Section 22-9A-8 Registration of infants of unknown parentage. (a) Whoever assumes the custody of a live-born infant of unknown parentage shall report on a form and in a manner prescribed by the State Registrar within five days to the Office of Vital Statistics all of the following information: (1) The date and place of finding. (2) Sex, race, and approximate birth date of the child. (3) Name and address of the person or institution with whom the child has been placed for care. (4) Name given to the child by the custodian of the child. (5) Other data required by rules of the board. (b) The place where the child was found shall be entered as the place of birth. In this chapter: (1) "Child" means an individual, whether over or under the age of majority, who is or is alleged to be owed a duty of support by the individual's parent or who is or is alleged to be the beneficiary of a support order directed to the parent. (a) A certificate of death for each death which occurs in this state shall be filed with the Office of Vital Statistics, or as otherwise directed by the State Registrar, within five days of the death and shall be registered if it has been completed and filed in accordance with this section. Section 26-17-103 Scope of chapter; choice of law. (a) This chapter applies to determination of parentage in this state except for matters relating to legitimation and adoption. Nothing in this chapter supersedes or modifies Alabama law regarding the requirements contained in Section 26-10C-1.
