Section 27-19-38 Coverage of newly born children in health insurance policies. (a) All individual and group health insurance policies providing coverage on an expense-incurred basis and individual and group service or indemnity type contracts issued by a nonprofit service corporation which provide coverage for a family member of the insured or subscriber shall, as to such family members' coverage, also provide that the health insurance benefits applicable for children shall be payable with respect to a newly born child of the insured or subscriber from the moment of birth. (b) The coverage for newly born children shall consist of coverage of injury or sickness including the necessary care and treatment of medically diagnosed congenital defects and birth abnormalities, but need not include benefits for routine well-baby care. Section 27-19A-12 Dental services - Coverages; fees; exceptions. (a) As used in this section, the following terms shall have the following meanings: (1) COVERED PERSON. (a) Any minor child under the age of 16 seeking an abortion from an abortion or reproductive health care facility shall be asked by the physician performing the abortion or his or her agent to state the name and age of the individual who is believed to be the father of the unborn child. While the minor child may refuse to provide the father's name and age, she should be encouraged to do so by the physician or agent consistent with the physician's legal obligation to reduce the incidence of child abuse when there is reason to suspect that it has occurred. The State Board of Health, with the advice and consultation of the Statewide Health Coordinating Council, is hereby authorized and empowered to prepare, review and revise as necessary a preliminary state health plan which shall be made up of the health systems plans of the health systems agencies within the state.
