Section 29-6-7 Powers and duties of Legislative Council. (a) In addition to the powers otherwise provided in this chapter, the Legislative Council shall: (1) Approve budget requests, provide accounting services, make purchases, and provide mail distribution, property inventory, telephone service, electronic media services, recycling services, and building maintenance services for the Legislative Department, and all agencies and entities, respectively, therein. (2) Allocate space in the Alabama State House, including to the Senate and the House of Representatives. In carrying out its responsibilities under this subdivision, the Legislative Council may charge and collect rent from any entity allocated space in the Alabama State House at a rate set by the council. The council may establish a special fund in the State Treasury to receive funds from any source to maintain the State House property. Section 40-25-2.1 Tax on cigar wrappers. (a) For the purposes of this section, the following terms shall have the respective meanings ascribed to them by this section: (1) CIGAR WRAP. (a) The following words and phrases used in this chapter, and others evidently intended as the equivalent thereof, shall, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise, have the following respective meanings: (1) ALABAMA-BRED. Section 30-3-6 Bond, security, or other guarantee to secure payment of overdue support or compliance with visitation order. (a) As used in this section, the following terms shall have the following meanings: (1) SUPPORT. Support of any child, with respect to whom a support order exists, and support of a spouse or former spouse with respect to whom a support order exists where incidental to an order of child support as required by Title IV-D of the Social Security Act. Section 31-9A-9 Additional powers of director that may be exercised under the direction and control of the Governor during a declaration of emergency as authorized in Section 31-9-8. (a) The objective of this article is to provide for the safe, responsible and reasonable reclamation of lands upon which surface disturbances will be created by surface mining and the surface effects of underground mining so as to protect the taxable value of property and preserve natural resources within the state and protect and promote the health and safety of the people of this state, consistent with the protection of property and with maximum employment and the economic and industrial well-being of the state.
