Section 16-6F-9 Legal status and powers of public charter schools; employees. (a) Legal status
of a public charter school. (1) Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, to the
extent that any provision of this chapter is inconsistent with any other state or local law,
rule, or regulation, the provisions of this chapter shall govern and be controlling. (2) A
public charter school shall be subject to all federal laws and authorities enumerated herein
or arranged by charter contract with the school's authorizer, where such contracting is consistent
with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. (3) Except as provided in this chapter, a public
charter school shall not be subject to the state's education statutes or any state or local
rule, regulation, policy, or procedure relating to non-charter public schools within an applicable

to Chancellor; construction of article. Any other law to the contrary notwithstanding, the

Section 16-13-234 Allocation of funds. (a) In making apportionment of the Public School Fund
held by the state, to the local boards of education, the State Superintendent of Education
shall first set apart and distribute to the schools of each township the amount due from the
state thereto as interest on its sixteenth section fund, or other trust fund held by the state.
(b) It is the intent of the Legislature to insure that no local board of education receive

Section 16-1-24.3 Local boards of education to implement policies requiring expulsion of students
who possess firearms in school areas. (a) All city and county boards of education shall develop
and implement local policies and procedures requiring the expulsion of students, for a period
of one year, who are determined to have brought to school or have in their possession a firearm
in a school building, on school grounds, on school buses, or at other school-sponsored functions.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, city and county boards of education and the local superintendent
