Section 22-12D-1 Office established; purposes. (a) The Office of Women's Health is established within the Alabama Department of Public Health for the following purposes: (1) To educate the public and be an advocate for women's health by requesting that the State Department of Public Health, either on its own or in partnership with other entities, establish appropriate forums, programs, or initiatives designed to educate the public regarding women's health, with an emphasis on preventive health and healthy lifestyles. (2) To assist the State Health Officer in identifying, coordinating, and establishing priorities for programs, services, and resources the state should provide for women's health issues and concerns relating to the reproductive, menopausal, and postmenopausal phases of a woman's life, with an emphasis on postmenopausal health. Section 22-11D-6 Statewide registries. (a) The department shall establish a statewide trauma registry and may establish other registries to collect and analyze data on the incidence, severity, and causes of trauma, including traumatic brain injury and other health care illnesses, such as stroke. The registries shall be used to improve the availability and delivery of pre-hospital or out-of-hospital care and hospital trauma or other health care services. Section 27-1-17 Limitation periods for payment of claims; overdue claims; retroactive denials, adjustments, etc.; penalties. (a) Each insurer, health service corporation, and health benefit plan that issues or renews any policy of accident or health insurance providing benefits for medical or hospital expenses for its insured persons shall pay for services rendered by Alabama health care providers within 45 calendar days upon receipt of a clean written claim or 30 calendar days upon receipt of a clean electronic claim.
