Section 16-47-123 Board of Medical Scholarship Awards - Powers and duties. (a) The Board of Medical Scholarship Awards shall make a careful and thorough investigation of the ability, character, and qualifications of each applicant, and award scholarships and loans according to the judgment of the board. Preference in granting loans shall be given to applicants who sign agreements to practice in those areas in greatest need of medical service for periods of time to be stipulated by the board. (b) The Board of Medical Scholarship Awards shall make reasonable rules and regulations for implementing and administering this division. Section 16-47-126.1 Award contracts in force prior to February 14, 1994 may continue; option available to re-contract under new provisions; additional board powers. Individuals who have entered into contracts with the Board of Medical Scholarship Awards prior to February 14, 1994 shall be entitled to continue to receive the loans or merit scholarship, or both, in the amounts specified in the contract. Repayment shall be in accordance with the terms of the contract.
