Section 16-6C-3 Legislative School Performance Recognition Program. (a) The Legislative School Performance Recognition Program is created within the State Department of Education to reward public schools that either: (1) Demonstrate high performance by being ranked in the top 25 percent of public schools, as ranked in the school grading system created in Section 16-6C-2. (2) Demonstrate exemplary progress by improving the overall annual ranking of the school by at least one letter grade, as ranked in the school grading system created in Section 16-6C-2. (b) All public schools that are ranked in the school grading system created in Section 16-6C-2 are eligible to participate in the program. (a) In addition to any other labels or designations assigned to public schools and public school districts pursuant to a federal, state, school, district, or other assessment or accountability system, the State Superintendent of Education, consistent with the provisions of this chapter, shall develop a school grading system reflective of school and district performance.
