Section 25-5-8 Employers' options to secure payment of compensation. (a) Option to insure risks. An employer subject to this chapter may secure the payment of compensation under this chapter by insuring and keeping insured his or her liability in some insurance corporation, association, organization, insurance association, corporation, or association formed of employers and workers or formed by a group of employers to insure the risks under this chapter, operating by mutual assessment or other plans or otherwise. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the insurance association, organization, or corporation shall have first had its contract and plan of business approved in writing by the Commissioner of the Department of Insurance of Alabama and have been authorized by the Department of Insurance to transact the business of workers' compensation insurance in this state and under the plan. Every Alabama student shall be given instruction in grades kindergarten through twelve to prepare him or her to enter the world of work and/or to complete course work at the postsecondary level. Section 16-30A-3 Training of school employees for care of students with diabetic medical needs. (a) No later than the beginning of the 2015-2016 school year, the State Department of Education, in consultation with the Alabama Board of Nursing, shall develop guidelines for the training of school employees in the care needed for students with diabetic medical needs according to the student's Individual Health Plan, the medical authorizations of which are limited to permitting the administration of injectable medications specific to his or her diabetes.
