Section 16-26B-2 Definitions. For the purposes of this chapter, the following words shall have
the respective meanings ascribed by this section unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
(1) DEPARTMENT. The State Department of Education. (2) SCHOOL. The Alabama School of Fine
Arts. (3) SCHOOL BOARD. Board of Trustees of the Alabama School of Fine Arts. (4) STATE BOARD.

Section 16-22-14 Personnel records of education employees. (a) Definitions. When used in this
section, the following words shall have the following meanings: (1) EMPLOYEE. Any person employed
by a school board. (2) EXECUTIVE OFFICER. The superintendent of any public county or city

Section 16-28B-3 Definitions. The following terms have the following meanings: (1) BULLYING.
A continuous pattern of intentional behavior that takes place on or off of school property,
on a school bus, or at a school-sponsored function including, but not limited to, cyberbullying
or written, electronic, verbal, or physical acts that are reasonably perceived as being motivated
by any characteristic of a student, or by the association of a student with an individual
who has a particular characteristic, if the characteristic falls into one of the categories

Section 16-22-12 Cost-of-living adjustment for public education employees; miscellaneous pay
provisions. (a) The State Budget Officer shall allocate to the State Board of Education, the
Board of Trustees of the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind, the Board of Youth Services
