Section 19-3D-2 THIS SECTION WAS ASSIGNED BY THE CODE COMMISSIONER IN THE 2018 REGULAR SESSION, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2019. THIS IS NOT IN THE CURRENT CODE SUPPLEMENT. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter the following terms have the following meanings: (1) APPOINTIVE PROPERTY. The property or property interest subject to a power of appointment. (2) ASCERTAINABLE STANDARD. A standard relating to an individual's health, education, support, or maintenance within the meaning of 26 U.S.C. Section 2041(b)(1)(A), as amended, or 26 U.S.C. Section 2514(c)(1), as amended, and any applicable regulations. (3) AUTHORIZED FIDUCIARY. (A) A trustee or other fiduciary, other than a settlor, that has the discretion to distribute or direct a trustee to distribute part or all of the principal of the first trust to one or more current beneficiaries; (B) a special fiduciary appointed under Section 19-3D-9; or (C) a special-needs fiduciary under Section 19-3D-13. Section 35-4-431 Definitions. (a) As used in this article, the following words have the following meanings: (1) ASSOCIATION. An association or unit owners' association, as defined in Section 35-8A-103 of the Alabama Uniform Condominium Act of 1991; an association as defined in Section 35-8-2 of the Condominium Ownership Act; or a nonprofit or cooperative membership organization composed exclusively of owners of mobile homes, manufactured housing, time-shares, camping resort interests, or other interests in real property that is responsible for the maintenance, improvements, services, or expenses related to real property that is owned, used, or enjoyed in common by the members. Section 36-25-1 Definitions. Whenever used in this chapter, the following words and terms shall have the following meanings: (1) BUSINESS. Any corporation, partnership, proprietorship, firm, enterprise, franchise, association, organization, self-employed individual, or any other legal entity. Section 8-19A-3 Definitions. As used in this chapter and Chapter 19C, the following terms shall have the following meanings unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: (1) CALLER IDENTIFICATION SERVICE. When used in this article, unless the context otherwise requires, the following terms shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section: (1) COMMISSION or SECURITIES COMMISSION. Section 22-40A-3 Definitions. The following terms shall have the following meanings unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: (1) APPROVED. Authorized, certified, permitted by, or meets standards of a regulatory authority. (2) AUTHORIZED DISPOSAL. Section 34-13-120 License required; crematory requirements; application and inspection; records; violations; rulemaking authority. (a) No person, firm, corporation, association, entity, or funeral establishment, or branch thereof, may operate a crematory for the purpose of cremating dead human bodies, unless licensed by the board as a funeral establishment and the crematory being registered with the board and inspected by the board before any cremations of human remains are performed. (b) A crematory shall satisfy all of the following requirements and have the following minimum equipment, facilities, and personnel: (1) Registered with the board. Section 24-8-7 Exemptions. (a) Except for subdivision (3) of Section 24-8-4, Sections 24-8-4 and 24-8-6 do not apply to rooms or units in dwellings containing living quarters occupied or intended to be occupied by no more than four families living independently of each other, if the owner actually maintains and occupies one of the living quarters as his or her residence.
