Section 13A-11-75.1 Pistol permit for retired military personnel. (a) The words retired military veteran as used in this section, unless the context clearly requires a different meaning, means only those persons who are retirees from active duty in the Army, or the Navy, or the Marine Corps, or the Air Force, or the Coast Guard of the United States or any reserve or National Guard component thereof. (b) Any retired military veteran who meets the conditions for issuance of a pistol permit pursuant to Section 13A-11-75 shall be eligible to obtain the pistol permit without paying a fee for the permit. Upon approval of the pistol permit application, the pistol permit shall be issued by the sheriff of the county in which the veteran resides upon presentation by the retired military veteran of the United States government issued Veteran Identification Card or a DD-214 Proof of Military Service form and sufficient proof that the person is a military retiree. Section 45-5-232 License fee; exemption for certain military veterans; disposition of funds. (a) Except as provided in subsection (b), beginning January 1, 2008, in Blount County, the fee for issuing a license to carry a pistol shall be twenty dollars ($20) which shall be collected by the sheriff. The fee imposed by this section shall constitute the total fee imposed by local law in Blount County for the issuance of a pistol license and shall be paid in lieu of any and all fees for pistol licensing previously provided by local law. Section 13A-11-75 Permit to carry pistol in vehicle or concealed on person - Issuance; fee; revocation; release of information. (a)(1)a. Section 45-37-233 Pistol permit fee. (a) This section shall be known as the Pistol Permit Reduction Act of 1999 for Jefferson County. (b) In Jefferson County, the total fee for issuance of a permit to carry a pistol as provided by Section 13A-11-75 shall be seven dollars fifty cents ($7.50) per year.
