Section 41-9-43 Executive director, consultants, advisors, etc. The chairman, with the approval of the council, may employ an executive director and such additional personnel as may be necessary to accomplish the purpose of this article. The executive director, consultants, advisors, and any such additional personnel as may be necessary shall serve at the pleasure of the council and shall be paid such compensation as may be specified by the council. (a) An official court reporter shall be paid a salary by the state in an amount as shall be established by law, to be paid as other state employees are paid. (a) Any active, vested, and contributing member of the Teachers' Retirement System who has been employed in public education for a minimum of 10 years may claim and purchase service credit in the system not to exceed five years for prior service between 1974 and 1989 rendered to an educational institution of higher education that receives direct appropriations from the Education Trust Fund but does not participate in the Teachers' Retirement System.
