In Jackson County, three employees in the circuit clerk's office who were scheduled for layoff have been temporarily retained with alternate funding other than funds appropriated to the Unified Judicial System; however, this alternate funding cannot be relied upon in the future. (a) Each of the circuit judges of the Fifth Judicial Circuit of this state (as such circuit is now or hereafter constituted) shall be paid a local expense allowance, in addition to all compensation and expenses paid by the state, from the general funds of the counties composing such circuit, in the amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) per annum, which shall be paid in equal monthly installments. (a) Any circuit court judge or district court judge who has served for 10 or more years in any combination of service as a judge of the circuit court or district court in this state and who retires pursuant to Chapter 18 of this title, may be appointed as a senior judge.
